Johannesburg, 13 May 2024 – South Africa’s farmers will be the first to experience the new GWM P500 bakkie, TANK 500 and NEW Jolion SUV when the country’s leading Chinese motor vehicle manufacturer heads as One to the 2024 NAMPO extravaganza in the week of 14 to 17 May.
Now united as one under the GWM brand, the full range of P-Series bakkies, HAVAL, TANK and ORA will be out in force under one umbrella for the first time at the monster Bothaville, Free State exhibition. The highlight of the One GWM show is without doubt these newcomers, which will be shown there in the flesh for the first time in South Africa.
A phenomenon in its own right amongst the Bothaville mielies, NAMPO is one the biggest agricultural shows on earth. Attracting 50,000 farmers from across the length and breadth of South Africa and well beyond, it’s an incredible experience for all who attend. With everything from livestock displays to any conceivable agricultural product on show, the chance to experience tractors ploughing the field, and 4x4s stretching their legs on a central course, and so much more, it’s a farmer’s must-do.
All of which makes NAMPO the perfect venue to unveil three of One GWM’s biggest new products of the year. “NAMPO is among the biggest and greatest expos in South Africa, so it is also a crucial show for any car brand,” GWM South Africa Chief Operations Officer Conrad Groenewald explains. “That is why NAMPO is the ideal platform for us to unveil our all-new GWM P500 double cab bakkie, as well as the new TANK 500 and the new Jolion.
“NAMPO is also our first public showcasing of all our brands united as One GWM. GWM has been in South Africa for over seventeen years now, and the brand has become synonymous as leading challenger brand in this market. HAVAL and P-Series are known for high quality, high-tech and great value, which is why all our excellent products and services are being combined to stand as one under our trusted GWM Family Brand.
Looking at the three new GWM products the all-new P500 bakkie brings a brilliant new alternative to South Africa’s most vibrant new vehicle sector. “We are beyond excited to show our new four-wheel drive double cab P-Series bakkie to the farmers,” GWM South Africa P-Series and TANK Brand Manager Pumza Kondlo confirms. “Without giving too much away, they can look forward to the choice of turbodiesel, or petrol hybrid power and a few features like they have never seen before!”
Next up, the TANK 500 Luxury SUV brings seven-seater sophistication to the South African market with brand new petrol hybrid grunt, a high tech new 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. “We are delighted to also roll the new TANK 500 out to our farming community and clients,” Kondlo continues. “The TANK 500 brings advanced technology and great performance to conquer any driving conditions.”
The third all-new GWM Brand model en route to NAMPO is the sexy new Jolion. “The new Jolion brings a fresh and sporty feel to the already stunning Jolion range,” HAVAL and ORA Brand Manager Carina van der Merwe (Vermooten) elaborates. “The new Jolion is a more stylish Jolion, set apart by thrilling bold styling and a hybrid advantage. And it will be at NAMPO for the very first time. We can’t wait to introduce the new Jolion to our farmers, whom we know will love what the Jolion represents.
Other GWM NAMPO attractions include the rest of the trusted full P-Series bakkie ranges, the rugged recently launched TANK 300 SUV, and the affordable all-electric ORA 03.
“We look forward to spoiling South Africa’s farmers with an exclusive first view of the three new One GWM products that will stun South Africa in the coming months. There’s also something special for each and all of our GWM fans, so we cannot wait to welcome the farming community when they visit us for the first time as One GWM at NAMPO. See you in Bothaville!”
